Sansui SP3500

I've read some thoughts on the Sansui SP3500's here on the forums, people claim they are lacking in the low range. The last few trips to GW I've seen a pair priced at $65, i was wondering since most of the threads I've read the owners were not pleased w/ them but none of the posts mention how much was paid. I was wondering if $65 was a reasonable price. I've been considering picking them up but I have not been able to remove the convex wooden grills, to inspect the drivers, is there a trick to removing the grills.? I don't want to damage them. The enclosures show some wear (corners etc) but the size and weight of these intrigue the heck out of me. Any insight, or suggestions would be very helpful and appreciated. Thank you. CC

They are great looking and great sounding speakers. For some reason "technical purists" bashing them. That helps keep their price down.

I use to have them, but few years ago I very reluctantly sold them.

Grills hold by a 4 small screw in corners. Bring Philips screwdriver and a flashlight.

Thank you ymarko, I may go there today and see if they are still available. I would have never caught the 4 screws in corners. CC

I'v had lots of these speakers and like them. If I where you I'd consider the reference point of the comments you read when online.

I'v paid up to $400 for really nice pairs and just sold my last with the boxes for $350.

ebay sold prices (not starting auction prices or BIN but completed/sold) will give you the top end of the range. Less for local sales usually.
