Sansui TU-7700 Dial Pointer Light??

I have recently got a TU-7700. This model actually doesn't have a conventional plastic dial pointer. Instead, it just has a dial pointer light mounted on a metal holder. Does anyone know the replacement for this light? In this model without this light act as the dial pointer on the dial scale.

It is actually a red LED, though I'm unsure of the size or package type. Sansui used an odd axial micro-LED on several components in that timeframe, and if it's one like that I'm unaware of a direct fit contemporary replacement.

If you are lucky, it may be a common T-1 (an industry standard size designation) LED but not having had one apart can't say for certain. Unless someone else here can post a picture of it removed from the unit, you'll probably need to pull it to figure out what might fit as a replacement.

Your first guess is right. It is an axial micro-LED:(. I am thinking of trying to fit a 1.8mm LED.
 
You might check around some electronic surplus sites, I've periodically seen LED assortment (grab bags of mixed color/size/type) sold cheap that had some small axial leaded LEDs in them. Places like Marlin P. Jones come to mind. Of course you could probably find something at Mouser or Digikey but need enough ordered at once to make it worth shipping.

Make sure you check the dropping resistor inline with the LED to be sure it isn't bad and that the LED isn't actually at fault.

Just searched eBay, lookup "axial red hlmp6600" and you'll find an example of what I'm thinking might work. Most search results there are sold in lots of 100, so probably not the route you want to take (talk about a 10 lifetime supply!) At least gives you a starting point to work from.
 
Axial HLMP6620 perfectly fits in! Thanks, Sansuiman for providing the keyword! It has Vf 5V and If 3.5mA and used 2.2K resistor. I guess it is correct given the 12V source voltage.
 
Nice. That particular LED was just a wild ass guess on my part, so happy to hear it worked well in the application. Had a QRX-9001 I repaired some time ago that used several red micro axial LED's for which no contemporary part was a close match in appearance (size was not so much an issue) and had to replace all of them to get a uniform aesthetic.

I kept the remaining good ones I'd removed for spares in case I ever run into that situation again. I was actually tempted to use some yellow micro axial LED's I had on hand for that project, but decided to stay as close to orginal as possible so used some red ones that fit.

It's remarkable how unique some of those really early LED's were for package type and lens appearance, and how nothing made now comes close to matching even if they fit ok.
