Saturday audiophile fun

Picked up a pair of Realistic Minimus-7 speakers for 10 bucks today and coupled it with a Lepai LP-2020 amp for the den. With all the high power stereo gear I have I am still impressed with the sound of this little system. Saturday fun for audiophiles! Lol

They serve a purpose, with efficient speakers, but run out of gas if pushed at all. Many will argue they are equal to a real amplifier, but they are not.

They serve a purpose. When connected properly, powered properly, and connected to appropriate speakers, quite listenable sound comes out. I don't know how much more "real" you can get.

Yes, I own one.

Cheers,
Larry B.

Replacing the stock Lepai (2A) power supply with a 12V 6A LCD power supply ($10@Amazon) makes a tremendous difference in both power output and sound quality especially at higher volumes.

I'm using a 3 amp brick (not wall wart). It made quite a noticeable difference from the original. At the volumes I listen to in that system, it's more than sufficent (although I'm sure a 6 amp would be even a further improvement).

Cheers,
Larry B.

Maybe I'm just an a-hole but a T amp and Minimus 7's and the the word audiophile, just don't connect for me. Not bad at all but not audiophile level. You view may vary.

I use one with with a set of Minimus 26s and an ipod and in some places it does just fine, within reason!

Can't imagine anyone sitting back in a chair saying...."WOW, did you hear that?" That expectation isn't feasible!

I have a lil t amp too but only use it to enhance my TV speakers in the bedroom. I don't always want to have my bigger speakers on just for better tv sound.

We have the same amp at our shop, works great with the Bose 301's (gasp!) Cranks up pretty loud, and sounds pretty good! Not the end all be all of amplifiers but hell, it delivers more than you have a right to expect for a $30 amplifier!

I also run a quartet of minimus 7's in the stacked configuration in my home office, I posted a thread a couple of years ago about how they replaced a pair of Sonus Faber concertino's. Still enjoying the hell out of them!

I bought one for my son with some Dayton BR52's to use with his computer. Not a bad set up. I need to get one with usb for my boat. Load up tunes on a thumb drive and im good to go.

Anything audio related interests me. I had never seen that amp before , thanks for showing it! Nice to see that not everything has to be exclusively made by artisan monks that assemble tube amps by hand from zinc mined by audophiles listening to $100,000 turntables to be liked.

I would not be surprised if that little system of yours beats half of AK for clarity. :)
