Did you read this?

On May-12-03 at 16:50:46 PDT, seller added the following information:

folks ive received numerous e-mails about the wattage in this auction,all im stating is the watts that is on the stamp on the back of both receivers and i by no means am referring to watts per channel,hey i have both receivers and all im stating is that the technics will hold its own with the sx-980. by no means am i saying that the sx-980 is inferior as i own one,im just bringing to attention a person can buy this unit for less dollars than a sx-980 and have just as good as sound give or take to opinion,anyways im sorry if i have mislead anybody about this as you can see my feedback rating and i certainly didnt intend for it to be that way,regards crankitup

And anyways... it was only "roasting a medium sized Pioneer"....

People should know what they are talking about before letting the world know they don't. He has just proven that the Technics is way less effecient than the Pioneer. 400 watts AC power consumption with less watts RMS power output than the Pioneer. What a pig.

No, it is more powerful than the SX-980, which is, as noted above, a mid-level Pioneer.
The Technics 828 is a TOTL receiver from 1981-84, $875. 100 wpc 'Super A,' IIRC.
Guy is enthusiastic.

Give me the classic Pioneer anyday. That Technics is fugly no matter how many watts he claims it puts out. Besides as any true audiofool knows its the first watt that's most important. It's all gravy after that.

Seems that Comical Ali sells his resources;

BUT: it´s a Class A, and as I know old Technics stuff, the first 20

Watts are pretty good.

That era of Technics might possibly be the worse they ever produced.

A friend of my wive's gave her a Technics Cassette deck that looks similar to that to give to me. Cheapiest pile of crap I'd ever had in my possession. Looked much better when it was sitting on the curb waiting for the trash man.
