Scores or not?...Dokorder SS-200's and Tape deck find ...

2 finds today.......but I'm not 100% certain if they are Scroes or not.

1st up was this Sony ES 730 3 head tape deck I found at SA for $18.

Up next....
I stumbled into these "very awesome" vintage looking Dokorder SS-200's ...end-table type speakers with really nice glass tops.
Not too sure just what's on the inside .... although they call out 8 ohms on the label and the ad I found for them from 1970 shows they sold new for 87,200 yen (about $1200).
One of them had a bit of damage to the grill so I'm curious how these get fixed if anyone has some tips there too....
Here's the pic!

The tape deck is super nice if you're into tapes. Top model for the line I think.
Those speakers are curious. Omni design, probably not much bass; more furniture than speaker I think. How do they sound?

just got the speakers home late tonight so I will hook them up and test them out this weekend. I'll report back after I hear them.

The tape deck....that's good to hear.....we have lots of old tapes but no deck so I took a chance.

That deck is TOTL in '88 IIRC. A definate score, they sell for A LOT more than that, I have to keep from drooling....

Great score on that TOTL Elite Series Sony deck - if you use cassettes then hang on to that one.

The speakers are rather uncommon, AFAIK. I didn't even know that Dokoder made speakers, thought they just made malfunctioning tape decks. Can't imagine that they would sound like anything special since they probably use generic drivers, more of a curiosity than anything else IMO.

Amazing find on the tape deck. In my opinion that Sony ES stuff is top notch. And it looks great too! Any Sony ES gear for $18 is a steal.

Very cool, Dokoder reel to reels, ,but speakers ? !!, we never took them in because of parts problems. I am talking 1978 old, but speakers ? lol, cool find.

Tape deck is ok, sell it, keep the speakers.

Nice Sony tape deck. I thought Dokorder only made terrible open reel decks. Would be interesting on how they sound.

Dokorders, hooked up to a 2215b Marantz along-side some OAL's just didn't cut it. These are more furniture than audio.
I'm takin em back for store credit.

so I am not saying these speakers are good but I think they were made by Onkyo. nice tape deck too!
They would probably be worth something to a vintage Onkyo collector but that's not me and I really don't want the headache of the space they'll take up in my garage while trying to offload them.
The thought also crossed my mind that they maybe with some TLC and a recap they may spring to life. But again, not something I'm set up to do.....so....back to the store for credit.
