Scott 188T? Worth picking up?

Stopped by the Goodwill the next town over today. They sure had a lot of stuff, much bigger than the Cambridge Goodwill. Most of it was crap, but there looked to be a couple of decent sets of speakers. One pair that seemed at least promising was a pair of Scott 188T speakers. Does anyone know anything about this model and if they're any good? I asked about a pair of Scotts a while back and in the responses learned that earlier in the history of Scott they made good stuff but that their quality declined at some point (just like many other companies, eh?) along the road. So, are these an example of the "good" Scott brand?

If not, I'll consider picking up those Advents with bum surrounds and refoaming them... or the Bose 501s.

I'm assuming a Scott purchase would be in addition to the AR-2ax purchase, right? This prolly doesn't help, but my S-10B's (71 or 72 vintage) are pretty nice. Well built cabs, good quality x/o's, and pretty good (sounding anyway) CTS drivers. If the 188T's are of similar vintage, are in good shape, and are priced right, I mighta nabbed 'em. I've check their website; nothing there but what I assume to be the earliest stuff. Didn't help, right? - Mark

oops... dang, I am pretty unreliable this summer :-( Still need to drag out the SA-303, too.

Finally!

Yup, the Scott brochure I have does have the 188T in it. It's a three way with a decent-looking soft dome tweeter (might be a Philips with a cosmetic trim ring?). The other two drivers look pretty generic, but maybe CTS's, like the S-15. The S-15 is a much better sounding speaker than its components would suggest it to be. I wouldn't be surprised it the 188T were OK to good, too.

Well, I think I'll go back to that GW tomorrow morning and depending on the prices, pick up this maybe for the living room (should be decent for movies, no?) and ALSO those Advents, which I'd try my hand at refoaming.

Resurrecting an old thread here. Just found a pair of these. Looking for new foam surrounds for the 10” drivers - any leads? Any other info?
