Good work. I'll bet you have even more confidence when you do the next pair. I have started buying just the foams, and have the price down to an average of $5 a pair. Use Aleen's Tacky Glue, which is only pennies per pair of surrounds, and it becomes a pretty inexpensive way to bring speakers back to life.

Have you done any recaps yet?

I do just buy the foams.....its way cheaper.......i just used some Elmers glue my wife had in her craft box.....

The poly cones on those woofers cleaned up very easily and the foams stuck also very easily.....not like my first attempt on a pair of Realistic MC 1400's they sounded great but looked awful.....they just wouldent adhere !!!

My son has them in his bedroom system and he loves them....

Save a speaker from the landfill today !!!!

*EDIT*

From that "after" pic it looks like i have a house full of speakers...........oh wait i do..........

How was it refoaming speakers that have poly cones? I've refoamed many speakers but only those with paper/composite cones. Did you need to "roughen" the edges of the cones at all to get the glue/foam to adhere?

BTW -- they look really good! :thmbsp:

def make the glue switch though, life will be much easier, seems to set up tackier ,quicker, thus taking alot of the pressure(read fooling around) off the repair process IMHO.

Well as i have only done Two sets of refoams....one paper and one poly.....the polys were way easier to get the old foam off the cone and the speaker frame...and i dident bother roghing the edges....but that might have been a good idea......i will do that next time............if my wife lets me buy another refoam project.......i need to start passing some of these speakers on....and spread the Karma !!!!

Thanks for the nice comment BTW.....

Cogsinister, are they the Boston Acoustics? Anyways a good job, sure feels good don't it? Time to hunt down pair #3,#4,#5, etc. to tackle.(LOL)

Looks great Cogsinister. Where did you get the foams? About to do my first one as well...

Plus one.

I was just about to ask. iVE GOT TWO PAIRS OF SPEAKERS TO REFOAM. aND IT COST ME A BUNDLE.(oops).

If we spoke in terms of cars these speakers would be totally totalled.

Go to that auction site and look for "bootapest2" He sells them in pairs for the best price I have seen. No glue, shims, CD, or instructions.

No affiliation. etc.

Oh i forgot to mention , they are DB+ DB50 Mark 2 speakers......made in Canada in the mid 80's people on the forum tell me they are just like a speaker called "Energys" not sure myself.....they were just thrift store finds....and i thought they looked worth saving for a total investment of about $15.....
