Sequerra tweeter domes

Hello, I have a pair of Sequerra Met 7 mkii speaker that had the domes pushed in on the tweeters before I found them. They’re now concave rather than convex. Is that a sound altering issue? I can hear them, was just wondering.

It might affect the dispersion pattern a bit. There are various ways of fixing the problem including using a small piece of tape or a vacuum cleaner. Others can chime in.

Actually from the pictures I see they don't appear to have dome tweeters but instead what you might be referring to is only the dust cap on the cone tweeter. In that case I would not worry about it. Can you post up a photo?
 
Thanks for the response- yes you are correct; I should have described them as dust caps. This is good to know. Picture attached.

I'm not that familiar with Sequerra speakers but the ones I usually see listed on Fleabay featured black paper Peerless cone tweeters with the aluminum dust caps removed and small waveguide posts mounted inside the voice coil. The tweeter in the picture looks to be of Japanese origin and may have been a replacement for the original Peerless cone tweeter or maybe not.

As for a pushed in dust cap affecting sound quality, I'd say from years of experience it would not be noticeable as long as the tweeter was still functioning at 100%. If the pushed in dustcap has somehow affected/distorted the voice coil and its free movement, that could indeed result in the tweeter sounding different.
 
I think that is the later tweeter, after he stopped using the loading plug. Painted for the signature series? I think MkII's still had the the loading plug.
I have a large quantity of the new tweeters, a few loading plugs and lots of ribbon material.

I agree with stickman that unless there is other damage, there will be little or no effect on the sound - while in the first fractions of an inch of the soundwave's travel the changed shape might have an effect, by the time the soundwave gets to your ear, Huygen's principle tells you that the infinite number of little waves that make up the larger wave will have interfered with each other enough that the wavefront will be uniform. That is also why there is no effect on dispersion since it is size, not shape, of the radiating surface that determines dispersion.
