Should I Buy This Console?

The Heppner horns are $40 and the tt is $30 on ebay ... that means you'll have $30 in the amp. Use the console wood to make a pretty platform for the amp and then paint the chassis and upgrade the caps... for $100 bucks you'll have fun and a nice little el84 7-10 wpc amp. boom

These Maggies are an easy, fun, gut project. ...and the guilt about gutting is nil, because there will be another on CL in 2 months...

It looks like a 9302 tube amp in there. Good little amps. Nice sounding too. Probably worth the asking price, just for the amp.

Good luck.

They don't come up very often in my area and when they do they're always over $100.

That console is a small Imperial and they're close to the top of the line. They are very nice and are worthy of restoration but everybody thinks differently. I gutted one earlier this year but it was in terrible shape.

Well... to be honest... They are drying up around here too. Just a few years ago, maybe 3, there would always be 2-3 tubed Maggie consoles within a 50 mi radius in my area. I do totally respect any choice to conserve the entire console vs gutting it. I hope there will be many Stereo Museums in the future for my children to peruse... and I hope they are filled up with these great early 60s pieces.

I missed it. Went back yesterday and the ad was gone.

Probably better that way. My wife doesn't like big things and woudl have had to quickly gut it and move the cabinet along.
