Need to replace my 45 years old SME 3009 coupling, wondering if anyone have any experience with the elastic coupling offered by this Australian seller ?

It's offered in both Teflon or Acetal, anyone have experience with any of them ? The coupling seems to be a pretty important part of the SME arm so i wonder if this type of coupling change the sound somehow & how does it compare with the standard rubber coupling ?

Going for an original SME rubber seems to be the right thing to do but the Teflon one doesn't need any gluing so i'm quite tempted to give it a go...

Will appreciate your thoughts :headscrat

I changed all my SME's to the teflon ones. Didn't hear any difference in sound but it will last forever without it ever sagging.:thmbsp:

Thanks Bob06, valuable info. Did it really work without gluing them ? Also did you use the white or the black ones ?

I used the black ones just so it would look like original. And they are just pressed fitted. One of the ones I did was a little loose on the small end so I put a drop of super glue on it.

Thanks Bob, was about to place the order when i checked my 3009 & noticed i don't see any place where a coupling rubber could be placed :scratch2: interesting...

That's a 3009 Improved series, not the same as the series II, which uses that coupling.

OK, i feel quite stupid right now

So now i have to find why my counterweight area is slightly bent...
