So-Cal Craigslist finds - Post them here!

I emailed the guy about an hour ago asking how much he was hoping to get for all of it... I have yet to hear back from him. I have a feeling I won't be hearing back from him either since I didn't make a blind bid on his stuff.:thumbsdn:

That must have been a heck of a four channel system. There is not a lot of info on the ESS Transtatics and he has four of them. From the little info I've found on Google, they are heavy (139 pounds ea) and have KEF woofers. They were expensive when new in the Seventies but almost no previous sales prices so difficult to value.

I've owned two pairs of those... I didn't pay that much for either of them. They sound okay but not all that great. I think you can do better for $60.00.

I'm not a RSL fan either but seriously looking at CL for SoCal every day for a month I have not seen anything remotely close for $30 a piece. Care to share any recent examples of better $30 speakers in LA?

I'm not an necessarily an RSL fan, but the speakers in question sound better than at least four of the pair you have listed at the bottom of your post. For $60, it would be an understatement to say one could do a hell of alot worse:yes:.

Yeah... I picked up a pair of JBL L-100's for $10.00 at a garage sale the other day. Have either of you actually ever heard a set of RSL Nevadas? I'll admit they do look impressive and they will play fairly loud also but the sound quality is just not there if you ask me. I suggest buying them and giving them a listen so you can see for yourself what I'm saying.

This makes me wonder which four of Tyler's speakers the Nevada's beat?:scratch2:

Infinity 2000AXT/ JBL 4333A / JBL L100T/ Magnepan MG.5QR / KEF Calinda's / AR-2AX / AR-4x / Dynaco A-10/ DCM TF-250 / altec capris

RSL Nevada's sound great....from 40 feet away! Talk about listener fatigue. The price is dirt cheap. There are better RSL speakers. The CG series is about the best if you value accuracy more than room shaking volume.

I've been trying to find something appropriate for my Scott 233, but most of what has been recommended (Klipsch, JBL, EV) are going for insane amounts of money on CL. I've been talking with the guy selling these, and am thinking of giving them a try. Anyone have any thoughts or experience with this set-up?

Maybe, maybe not. It's been over 30 years since my one and only trip to a RSL store and I listened to several different speakers. It was just to cover all the bases. I was in the hunt and had settled on B&Os, Dahlquists or Brauns. They seemed like just the thing for blasting Pat Travers Band at 10/10, which lots of people did in those days. These just seemed to standout from all the junk on CL at the price.

Bad taste on my part to have flamed Tylers speakers as the list is a fine list of speakers. I just feel the 4 ohm Nevada were a pretty good deal for someone looking for a set of decent speakers. To my ears, I believe they perform better than the pricer HPM-100 and even better than the JBL L-112. That being said I owned a pair that I soon recently sold to a sound engineer for $200, who was more than happy to make the drive from the Inland empire for pickup. The Electro Voice horns alone are probably worth $60.... Anyway it's all fun, especially for some of you sharpshooters who pick off the really good deals:)

Hell for $60.00 try them for yourself and see what you think. Don't take my word for it.Everyone has different tastes. I'm just saying I didn't like either of the pairs that I had. Sheesh where were you guys when I got rid of mine? I think I sold both pairs $20.00 total.

I've got Dynaco A25's, ADS L420's, among others that would be a lot more listenable than the RSL's near that price range. It all depends on what you're after for speakers. I heard RSL's when they were around and they were decent rock and roll speakers but I couldn't listen to them for long as they were fatiguing.

Man, I should clear out some of my speakers, it getting too crowded around here.

I won't defend the HPM-100, I used to own four pairs of and they are all gone. However, mentioning the Nevada's in the same sentence as the L-112 is something else!
