So which one of you is trying to have me killed?

if you are using an email client such as thunderbird you can look at the message source to try and trace it . it should have some info you can shock them with .

All kidding aside, that is an actual death threat that somebody sent you. I can see our authorities being overwhelmed by 'normal' spam, but this is the kind of thing you'd think they would have to pay attention to.

I would forward it along to somebody.

^this.

Let me see....extortion, racketeering, blackmail, attempted murder, not sure if it's FBI or CIA or NSA, but it probably should go to one of them....Oh wait a minute, it probably has, directly or indirectly.

I dunno...You MIGHT wanna print this out & go have a chit-chat w/the local DA or Cyber Crimes officer...Detroit/Wayne Co. SHOULD have such a person/persons...At least, you could share it w/them & they could get a kick out of it, too...I would say this is SERIOUS, but not too "Credible"..

I agree; this should reported to the authorities. You will want to forward it with all headers intact, or if you print it to take to the local police department, print it with all header information.

Now, I can post a less serious response to another post...

G'day all, an interesting thread. I guess in the general context of spam, as nasty and offensive as it is, it isn't all that 'serious' yet probably needs to be reported, but genuine death/menacing threats certainly are, having been on the receiving end of such things myself.

Being an Aspie with a fairly direct and honest 'way' and strong opinions on certain things does unfortunately make 'enemies'. I'll never forget the day when I received a fairly innocuous letter/envelope, however the content was anything but that!

The anonymous 'author' of the letter/threat went to great lengths to make the letter essentially untraceable, all typed, no return address etc and very menacing contents. Unfortunately that was one of several similar things over the years I've received. Rather sad and offensive and concerning, but I'm still here regardless. :D Regards, Felix aka catman.

It might be fun to reply with something like:
Dear sir,
Thank you for your concern. Rest assured that I have traced your e-mail to it's source and I now have your home address, phone number and am tracking your cell phone via GPS. My associates have been dispatched to eliminate you. Have a nice day.

It might be fun, but it would be illegal. The other person might be in a country where no one will actually arrest that person, but that does not mean that Wigwam Jones is in such a country.

You need to tell him that you have a special set of skills and that you WILL track him down and you WILL kill him.

And I got another one today. Same guy, but now he's lowered his prices. I guess even hitmen are being affected by today's economy. Such a shame.

To your attention

I want you to read this message very carefully and that you keep the secret until further notice. You do not need to know or who I am or where I come from. I was paid an advance of $50 000 to eliminate you. My sponsors one of which is what we can call a friend gave me the reasons I noted. I am more than ten days and now I know that you are innocent of what you are accused. Do not try to warn or send this message to the FBI or the police because I know that I'll have to do the job for which I was paid. Note that this is the first time that I betrayed my employer.

Look, I'll do everything I can so that we can meet before but I need $10,000. You have nothing to be afraid of, I can come see you in your office or home, it is up to you to decide. Never attempt recording or filming our upcoming meeting. You will pay $0,000 to the account I will tell you, this before our first meeting. Once payment is made, I will give you the file that contains the names and queries sponsors. This is a good evidence that can be used to sue if you wish. The balance of the payment will be settled later. For the moment this is not the trouble I give you my phone number because you will cooperate.

I have your picture and other important information about you. I was involved with my team in the Yemen Arab Republic. You must not ask me any questions.

Quickly confirm for your good.

I heard that a lot of Detroit jobs were being outsourced overseas, but it's a sad day when you have to go all the way to Yemen to get a hit done. He probably lowered his price due to competition. Next will be a Chinese guy getting paid $10,000.

When you get down to the guy in Detroit that claims to be getting paid $100 and wants a six-pack to call it off. Pay him!
