soldering question

I'm trying to solder a new pot onto a pcb, and the solder pad came up. Could I just use an insulated wire and solder to the pot, to the next solder pad that follows the trace? Or just solder directly on the trace?

Any method that works

Sometimes I have been able to solder to the trace, other times I've run jumpers.

Same here, once the trace lifts, I don't trust it.
