Songs That Make You Cry

My Dying Bride - For My Fallen Angel

As I draw up my breath
And silver fills my eyes
I kiss her still
For she will never rise
On my weak body
Lays her dying hand
Through those meadows of Heaven
Where we ran
Like a thief in the night
The wind blows so light
It wars with my tears
They won't dry for many years
Loves golden arrow
At her should have fled
And not Death ebon dart
To strike her dead

A lot of girl songs get you feeling mushy and something else too! but that's not allowed on this forum! :D :nono:

Like Hell is For Children - Pat Benatar?
Good reason... it addresses child abuse.

They cry in the dark, so you cant see their tears
They hide in the light, so you cant see their fears
Forgive and forget, all the while
Love and pain become one and the same
In the eyes of a wounded child
Because hell
Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell
Hell is for children
And you shouldnt have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

Its all so confusing, this brutal abusing
They blacken your eyes, and then apologize
Youre daddys good girl, and dont tell mommy a thing
Be a good little boy, and youll get a new toy
Tell grandma you fell off the swing

Because hell
Hell is for children
And you know that their little lives can become such a mess
Hell
Hell is for children
And you shouldnt have to pay for your love with your bones and your flesh

No, hell is for children

Hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for children

Hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for children

Hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for hell
Hell is for children

Hell is for children
Hell is for children

I think this one holds true to all AK members in many different ways and is one of several I can think of for me.

if you've watched as the heart of a child breaks in two

Hearing me play and sing that would make you cry.

Wild horses is one of my favorites, I'd have to say Lobo "Don't
Expect me to be your friend".
Since I admitted to being a cry baby in Spartanmanor's "Cool Covers" thread (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=126253), I thought I'd ask folks what songs make them cry, choke back tears, or blubber until thick, viscous spit bubbles form.

My weeper?

The Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses" is particularly sad. Its depiction of how depression and descent into drug use can devastate a relationship is poignant. Gram Parson's Flying Burrito Brothers version really hits home.

What's your sad song?

As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls + It's For You - Pat Metheny

The section with the children's voices on a playground nails me every time. Follow that up with It's For You, and it's Verklempt City--change, travel, hope, uncertainty. And it evokes the ending of "Fandango," when Kevin Costner has one last dance with an old flame and realizes that his gang is finished forever.

There is a song on Bruce Springsteens box set where he talks to the audience about growing up and the arguments he and his dad had. The story has an ending that chokes me up every time, and then he go goes into, down to the river.

Marty Robbins
The Ballad of the Alamo

In the southern part of Texas
Near the town of San Antone
Like a statue on his pinto rides a cowboy all alone
And he sees the cattle grazing where a century before
Santa Anna's guns were blazing and the cannons used to roar
And his eyes turn sorta misty
And his heart begins to glow
And he takes his hat off slowly...

To the men of Alamo.

Somewhere Over the Rainbow ~ I can barely type it even. Guess who wants to go home?

Emotion in Motion can too. But only because of a moment in time.

As the words are incredible about true love as only Stevie Wonder could ever make it into fantastically fantasied.

Conway and Loretta did one that did it too....'You Know Just What I'd Do'

and as corny as it may sound, when Mariah Carey sings "Anytime You Need a Friend" and that giant chorus of black ladies open up and belt it out...wowza!

The second time I saw George, a few years ago. He turned 76 this week. This was the first song he sang. I looked around to see if anyone saw me crying. Everyone was looking around doing the same as me.
