There's Sonic and Sonics, one of which are good and the other not so good. I can't remember, and I think people get a bit mixed up too. :D

Anyway, I've got a feeling those are the not so good ones made by Pioneer. The yellowy-brown cones and brown port are the sign, although I don't think those woofers are original.

 It is.

OT:
Chicknman, did you ever get that buzzing in your ROR's fixed?

I haven't gotten around to bringing them back yet, although I do keep calling to keep his mind refreshed.......only because I have another set I want to have done, and don't have the money right now. I would like to kill two birds with one stone. (I just don't want to take my chances at re foaming my JBL Lancer77's, I heard they were a pain in the crapper). I should be getting some dough soon, hopefully.......I hooked them up a few months ago because my kid took the sticky note label off the speaker (I had it labeled so I knew which one to bring).......they sounded fantastic!!! The flapping sound is minimal but can be picked up after a short listen. I don't know why or how these speakers aren't highly sought after......they certainly hold their own against anything I own

Sorry OT: Re: ROR monitors.
Because not enough people own them/heard them, or are even aware of them at all. That would be my guess.

I think, but I'm nowhere near positive, that "Sonic" was the brand name of Pioneer's discount speaker line - which used tan drivers with indestructible foam surrounds that look a lot like Pioneer's regular speakers of the day. I gave a set to my parents for their basement, they sound surprisingly good.
