Sony CDP C801es vs CDP C800

Good afternoon-

I have a nice Sony CDP C800 CD player that performs and sounds pretty good. That said, I have an opportunity to purchase a CDP c801es. I’ve done some research and it seems that the Sony ES models were generally better sounding and performing decks. Can anyone offer their thoughts on both decks, and if it would be a real upgrade to move to the CDP c801es?

I can't say for sure as everyones ears are different but I doubt you would recognize any audible differences between the two players. Mainly aesthetic differences would be the big difference especially if the 801es has the wood side panels. With that being said I believe having that little gold square that says ES fools my brain into thinking it's superior.
 
You can find the specs of these units on hifiengine and compare them to see how close they are. The 800 is identical to the c8esd which sounds awesome.
