Sony PS-4750 Headshell weight?

I just picked up a vintage Sony TT PS-4750. Great condition, but no headshell. Normally this wouldn't be a problem. I've got a couple of extra headshells and carts. Everyone I tried required over 6 grams of additional weight just to level out the tonearm. It's got the original tonearm weight on it. Did Sony use a weighted headshell on these TT"s? Does anyone make headshells that are heavier then today's lightweight aluminum headshells or am I missing something?

I've got a PS-4750 that I bought at a yard sale a few years ago.
It has what I assume is the original headshell:

If anything I would say it's weight is about average, I have heavier ones - I estimated it's weight based on it's total weight with a Shure M93E cartridge attached:
Total weight was 14.0 grams less the weight of the M93E (5.8g) = 8.2 g (including mounting hardware.)

I have an original headshell and the auxiliary weight I can weigh.

Shell is 7.4 grams with wires.

The auxilliary weight was 17.9g.

Thanks everyone for the quick replies. auxiliary weight. Nope, don't have one. Sounds like I'm going to need one. Where exactly does it mount to in the headshell? on the tonearm?

No, it sounds like something else, the auxilliary weight is for heavier headshell/cart combos. It would only make it worse.

The reason I asked is some people don't notice the aux weight stub is installed on the end of the arm and wonder why they can't balance the arm.

It sits flush and is pushed into the rear of the arm. Silver, with a black rubber sleeve. Looks normal when installed.

Post a pic of the back of the arm and headshell/cart?

Just so people benefit from this on the future.

There are two versions of the PS-4750, one without a separate "POWER "button at the front of the turntable and another WITH a "power" button.

Version sans button:

This is the version with the button:

The one sans "power" button uses a headshell of 14.5 grams.
Using a light shell here (i.e. 8 grams) will mean the tonearm will never be able to be balanced !

The one with "power" button uses a headshell of 7.5 grams.

Correspondingly, there is more than one counterweight version.
Funny enough, i have found a Pioneer PL-15D counterweight fits just fine.
