Sony SS-M7a acquired pair

I haven't hooked them up yet, as I just got them last night, but the reviews on AK were glowing and the price looked right at $250. I was actually looking at some local ADS L1230 on CL for $477, but these Sony's were also represented on CL, and seem to be the rarer of the brands.

I still have my heart set on some ADS, eventually, because of their own rave reviews, but these Sonys look awesome, and go with the decor with more WAF. See picture. I look forward to checking them out and providing my own feedback. Thanks, Jason.

Nice find on those speakers...good price....I have the smaller version of those speakers and supplement the lower end with a sub.....

Great speaker. The first speaker I've owned that I will never consider selling.

Let um bunch, they are worth what they are worth, and what they are worth is what the seller is selling for and the buyer is buying for.

I was going to say that you should talk to cubdog about these because he seems to have a lot of experience with them. But it seems I am, as usual, redundant, and not informative! Lucky me!

Enjoy!

You will find they do everything well. They excel at nothing but have a knack of conveying the music. They are an extremely well balanced speaker top to bottom. I run mine with a sub although for me it's not really necessary. I tend to use a sub no matter what speaker I'm using.

Size of your room?

How far away from walks, in corners?

Do you have them on stands? Height?

Any particular placement tips? Thanks.

My room is about 20x30.
The speakers are on the original Sony stands that are about 13 inches high.
They are centered on the 20 foot wall, 7 feet between them and about 3 feet in from the wall behind them.
I have them just slightly toed inward.
Just experiment with the placement. Every room has different demands.

I have been looking for a local pair for some time now and so far, no luck. Congrats on getting a very nice pair of speakers at a great price.
Someday I will join the ranks of the SS-Mx owners...... Someday.
Anxious to hear what you think of them after some audition time.

Great decision to pick these up. One of the speakers on my "short list" of models I'd pick up without question if the price were right. I believe these to be much harder to find than many ADS models.

I'm certain they are harder to find than ADS. Very few, of any of the SS models, were made compared to the multitude of ADS speakers. Interestingly my other "main" speaker, being used in my living room system, are ADS L710. To my ear the Sony's and ADS share many similar characteristic. All good.

Welcome to the SS-M7 owners club. I got mine locally about four years ago along with the factory stands. While the majority of my speaker collection are Infinity's, I love both the look and the sound of the M7's and would never part with them although I might make an exception if a pair of SS-M9's came my way.

I am confident you will enjoy your SS-M7's.

Awesome score! They're as what Cubdog described. I find them a little lacking a on the upper top end sparkle, but are very fine speakers despite that.

The new Sony's have received decent review. I'm pretty sure I could live with a pair despite their faults.
