Soundgarden cheats its way to a Platinum release

Lame, but I never could stand that band anyway. What's with the three-wolf-moon cover art?

I think that's kind of a lame way to count things towards album sales certification. Soundgarden nevertheless remains one of my top rock bands.

I agree with what he said.. I like Soundgarden, but it was a cheap way to count sales and appear better than they are..

The RIAA will do anything they can get away with any more...

hate the biz, not the artist

This. If someone wanted to buy a million of my widgets, songs, or whatever, I would sell it to them. I don't think it should count as a platinum record, but I would definitely collect the paycheck. Especially considering Soundgarden is a 20 year old band. In perspective, they sold records to a game distributor. It's not like they sold nukes to North Korea.

I kinda like soundgarden, and I would like to see them go platinum, but this is sooo cheap. I think they shouldn't certify it, it's a cheap shot from a loophole/contract deal. I'm not sure if Soundgarden had any say in it, but I sure hope they didn't:thumbsdn:.

mmm

Seems to cheapen the award.
A lot of that happening these days.
At work they gave out "Best Pratices" awards.
My boss asked what I thought of the award going to the people it went to.

I told him its like "Best Movie Of The Year"

All it means is they sucked the least....

My daughter was in a youth group a few years ago when she was around 6-7. After she saw that everyone got a prize at the end of the year, she stopped competing and lost interest. I mean, how many "Hey, glad you showed up and used up air" prizes does it take before you start to think that you only have to show up and you too can be a winner.

That's what I think is causing so much of the "entitled" mentality I see any more.. Everyone is made to feel they are "special" and they are given things deserved or not..

I've decided I need to get a bunch of bumper stickers made up... Your BMW (or Mercedes, or Audi or what ever) does not make you as important as you think you are.

I'll take two of the BMW and two of the Audi, thank you very much:thmbsp:

Certainly agree, little to try for when awards mean nothing. I think there is a similar scientific study about it, can't recall it right now, though.

Still a cheap way to get it...non returnable:no:.

LOL.. believe me Scuzzer.. I'm sure in your town the car you drive isn't near as important as it is here concerning your status in life.. Never been in a town where the car seems to be who you are as much as I see here.. It's nothing personal about what people on this forum drive...

I didn't take it personally and I know exactly what you're talking about. Around here it's guys with SPS driving Corvettes and soccer moms in Hummers that get the comments.

If I could afford a nice new super fast vette, or a really cool old L88, I'd be driving one, but it sure isn't for status.. it's because it's a bad ass fast car.. I could care less if it is painted splotched black and grey..

Around here a 325i seems to make you special... You're worthy enough to cut me off, or push me out of my lane because you deserve to be there more than me
