Had Soundstream Class A amps and speaker separates in one of my trucks years ago. Damn fine sounding gear.

I know a guy who had a whole house audio system based on soundstream gear. Don't remember what it sounded like but it was seriously expensive.

I had a ton of Soundstream car stuff in the early 90's. Awsome stuff!!! Most of their new stuff is pretty bad BTW.

I have 2 Soundstream C-1 Preamps - the original and a Mark II. I have the optional phono card also. I found the phono card too noisy and use a David Hafler DH-110 as a phono preamp and the C-1 MKII as a line stage. The MK II has a faster motor on the remote pot and different backlighting on the volume control. Haven't a-b'd the MK I and MK II. The line stage is quite quiet. Originally designed to sell for $1395 - $1495. I also have the T-1 tuner. Fair performance with suburban reception. The sensitivity is not quite as good as many older analog tuners (which is the case for most digital frequency tuners) and I have a MCS by JC Penney (made by Technics) tuner that is a bit quieter than the T-1.

I still have a bunch of Soundstream first and second generation car amps somewhere in a box. A couple of the class A (A30 or A50), the typical D50 and D60 amps too. Also had the original TC305 removable head unit that I had in my Jetta II in the mid 80's - damn fine unit that was farily reliable.

the amps sounded good and were generally reliable unless poorly ventilated or had to push very low ohmage speaker setups - then they would fail. Also occassionally had outputs fail too.

Sorry, no direct experience with the home gear although looked very nice, smooth, very German-Euro appearance like the ADS Atelier designs and Braun gear too. Many of their early home pieces echoed the industrial design of the TC308-TC305 head pieces - black faceplates, rounded ovals with plain lit buttons etc.

Nice if you can find them but no idea how good they were.

Soundstream's home gear was very well reviewed at the time (just as their car gear always was).

Some friend or family member owned one of their home components at one time (can't remember who) and I was impressed with the build quality.

I personally owned the mega universal remote they produced. It was one of the first remotes out there that controlled 10 components and could learn the codes for all of them. It was a great remote that I could operate mostly blindly.

I could swear I had a DAC by them with a wallwart AC plug but I gave it away to a guy in Florida, maybe I am wrong but did they make a DAC?
I replaced it with Theta Pro Basic III but also gave that away, now I go the simple one box player route for space, wire and simplicity reasons.

Cool, I thought I had junior Alzheimers but I cant remember the last time I forgot something. I had it paired with a AMC CD6 Tube cd player with a "wonderlink" Digital Coax.........atleast I think I did.
