Picked up this amp the other day and I've got it cleaned and ready to fire up. Downloaded the instructions and they read in part as follows:

QUOTE
Connect one of the leads from the left loudspeaker to the screw marked COM on the LEFT OUTPUT barrier strip. Connect the other lead from the left loudspeaker to the screw marked with the number corresponding to the impedance on the LEFT OUTPUT barrier strip. UNQUOTE

Instructions for the right speaker are essentially the same.

Should I conclude from this that it doesn't matter which lead is attached to the positive connection on the speaker and which is attached to negative?

Posted a similar inquiry in the Mac Forum.

Appreciate any insight in this regard. Thanks.

It does matter, in the absolute phase sense. Connect the - to COM on the amp and + to the appropriate output tap on the amp.

For example, if you have a 4Ω speaker, connect the - to com and + to the 4Ω tap. If it is 6Ω, try either 4Ω or 8Ω and decide which sounds better.
