speaker pairing

It's something I haven't played around with. Well, for a couple of years I've had a pair of Pioneer CS-A500 speakers in a room I don't go into much hooked up to a HK 730. I've always thought they sounded "OK", a little bright to me, midrange is OK. I have three pair of Dynaco A25s that I'd never listened to before, I stacked them up against a wall maybe 5 years ago and forgot about them, found them at a garage sale. The Pioneers were missing bass to me, so I decided to pair them up with the Dynacos and the whole system came alive! It made a huge difference to me. Each pair sounds decent solo but matching the two up brought it up to a new level. Yeah so now I understand the A and B speaker option much better. I'll be doing more of that. I was going to get rid of those Pioneers but now I rethinking that. What's your best matched pair?

I really enjoy pairing my JBL L150 speakers with my JBL L100T (with T3 crossovers) speakers. They each have characteristics that compliment each other. When it comes to bass, the passive radiators in the L150 speakers give the bass a rather unique texture to it that I very much enjoy while still providing lots of output. On the other side the L100T woofers have twice the power-handling for extra gut-punching bass. When it comes to treble, the soft-dome tweeters in the L150 speakers are extremely easy to listen to while the titanium dome tweeters in the L100T speakers are very revealing and do a great job filling in the gaps.

I only use one pair at a time, unless it is surround. Why smear the image with 2 pairs of speakers?

Also, I only have one set of speaker connections on my amp (it is Class A after all :D ).
I did consider that but the Dynacos are small and fit right up next to the woofers in the Pioneer cabs as though the pair are one unit. Of course they are still two pair ....I just read the message in your avatar, yes, I do have that problem but I'm working on it. I have some Altec 604s, still in the boxes, I'm hoping those will make me let others go. I do not like surround sound, grew up with it on a nice Klipsch system. Seeing stuff on a screen in front of me but hearing stuff to the left, right and behind me, ..sup with that. My dad got tired of it also, that's how I got his Mac hehehehe. "Todd, you want this thing?" "Uhhh, sure!"
