Speakers best match with Sansui AU 717

Hi. Just bought this unit 1 week ago, locally. Please give some assistance and info on what is best speakers with my Sansui AU 717 at a reasonable price for a poor boy like. Presently, I am using Infinity RS2 speakers. Thanks

Since the 717 is a brute of an integrated it will match well with most speakers. It is a little on the dark side, so it may pair well with a set of speakers that are a little on the bright side. I have one that has been fully restored, including all electrolytics, etc. It has sounded great on every speaker I have paired it with. That would include Dalquist DQ10, Mission 770 and KLH 6. The Dalquist were the toughest load, and the 717 handled them well.

I listen to a lot of classic rock, jazz, and classical. Sounds great all around.

I agree with Isotonic. It's a great integrated and will drive most anything. I was using some Klipsch KLF-30s which sounded great but I was only using about 1/10 of the power. I had the desire to try some vintage speakers, like KLH, AR, or Dynaco but didn't have the funds.

If you can find Cantons they would sound really good. Cantons are not well known in the US. I got a pair of $2500 Cantons used for $600 in a multi-unit deal. The original owner had won them in a sales contest and could not sell them because know one seemed to know what they were.

Pair with Yamaha NS-200M. This is the baby brother of the NS-1000M that is overlooked and as a result is value priced. The NS-200M has similar build quality and family sound. They can be had for $200 and sometimes much less.

I just saw the NS-200M. Very impressive looking and inexpensive.
