It is often said that the L847S is basically a 881S in a P-mount. And the stylus D81S for the 881S and D84S for the L847S are same and can be interchanged. I am not disputing that suggestion but I did find some information that suggests that 881S+D81S is not the same as L847S+D84S.
See the attached pics of the stanton catalog. It clearly shows some spec differences between the two outfits. The most glaring is the 35Khz extension of the L847S. A slight diff in output and balance. Unfortunately they dont list the compliance for L847S.
From the stylus replacement list you can see that the D84S is the default stylus for the L847S ONLY and none other.
Does it mean that the cartridges are really the same and the difference can be attributed to the stylus only ?
