Hi all,

Just an update on the SNELL TYPE E-III Tower Speakers I recently acquired.

I put a signal to the Speaker's connectors and......both Woofers work! Of course re-foaming is needed.

The "pushed-in" REAR Tweeters.......both WORKING! Amazing. I wonder if these REAR Tweeter domes

can be "UN-pushed in" ? The big disappointment however is (despite excellent LOOKING

condition) both of the Snell's FRONT one inch Dome Tweeters are NOT working! Arrrrrrrrrrr!

I wonder if these Tweeters can be repaired ? Oooh Boy, this project could become a bit costly.

What to do, what to do ?

Post pictures of the dented tweeters. As far as the fronts, have you tested the tweeters out of the cabinets? That should be your first step; the problem could be the crossover rather than the tweeters.

Excellent point! I have NOT yet tested the Tweeters removed from the Cabinets. I will do so and report back. Thanks.

Hi swechsier,

OK, on Speaker #1) I removed the four screws and carefully removed the Tweeter from the Cab. The Tweeter is still connected (soldered & glued) to it's Red & Black wires.
I attached a signal to the Tweeters connection and......BINGO! Speaker #1 Tweeter worked!

I repeated the process for Speaker #2 and.......sadly, I got NO signal from the Tweeter. My being mostly "all Thumbs", I will not attempt to remove the Tweeters from their connected
wires as I know I will only screw things up. I will leave this to the TECH should I decide to continue onward. Ummmm, I wonder if Tweeter #2 might work if removed entirely from the wires ?
I would think it SHOULD of produced sound when I attached the wires.

Yes, you should have gotten something out of that tweeter, unless there was a dead short in the wiring. It's a reasonably safe assumption that that's not the case, otherwise you wouldn't have gotten any sound out of the woofer when you played them.

You know your skills better than any of us, but so far this is a pretty simple repair, if you'd like us to talk you through it. Let's see some pics of the front and rear tweeters.

Thank you kind Sir for all your help. As you said, I know my skills (or lack thereof) better than anyone else lol, so, this is about a far as "I" venture.
