I have a stereo that consists of a Yamaha MG-206C mixer driving a DBX 234XS crossover which drives a Carver TFM-35, TFM-25 and TFM-15.
I am looking to add a powered sub for under 40Hz using either of these two amps

My question is the plate amps have this spec
XLR le or right 80Hz >2V(Hi-Level IN)
Now will that handle the full output voltage of the mixer or will I need to insert it between the subwoofer output and Carver TFM-35 where the voltage seen is consumer level?
It would be easier to feed the mixer to the plate amp with the plate amp HP out feeding the crossover as I could have the amp right by the sub cabinet which keeps the speaker wiring short.
Also for the intended use will 500 watts be enough for frequencies 40Hz and below with two Dayton Audio 12" subs (40Hz to around 80Hz) running on a Carver TFM-35 which can do 250 WPC 8 ohms and 380 WPC 4 ohms or will I need the 1200 watt amp?
