Stinky Speakers

I picked up (and later re-sold) the WORST SMELLING set of speakers ever. They were JBL L100. The prices was right, but I didn't realize they had been in the home of two chain smokers for 40 years.

I put them in my outdoor shed in the winter and put baking soda in them for two months. I then decided my wife would never let them in the house and that trying to remove the smell from all the pieces was impossible. They didn't smell like cigarette smoke, it was a very sweet yet nauseating smell. Might have had vestiges of mildew, but the smoke was so thick in that house I can't see how anything could live.

Sold them in a day :( but the shed still smells like them 1.5 years later!

Top that one. I'll bet you can!

Many years ago I picked up a cool bronze colored receiver only to later realize the color was from decades of being in a smoker’s home. Took several cleanings to remove. Never understood why people advertised “smoke free home” until then.
