Hey guys, well I'm a new member. I recently just got back into playing vinyl and I came across a studio standard by Fisher stereo complete. I purchased this item for 30 or 35$ I'm not sure if that's a a good deal but it seem like a good deal for me since it came with the stero finiture too. When I took it home I wiped it clean everything worked cassette player CD player radio eq and turntable plus the main head the only thing I had to buy was a neddle. I guess I just want to know some information about this and I'm guessing I can't modify my turntable since I want to get a new tonearm original is fine but I just want to upgrade it lol

That late 80's Fisher stuff is not the greatest. That being said, if you think it sounds ok then enjoy. The model number you provided is for the receiver part of the setup from what I can tell, so not sure where the turntable might fall quality wise, but it is probably a cheap turntable.
 
I picked up a "Studio Standard" CA--77 (integrated amp) from GW for about $6. After DeOxit it sounded okay, but nothing to write home about. 20160219_221627.jpg
 
CA-870A is the model number for an integrated amplifier. Is what you have a complete system, several individual components?

I know Fisher ain't that great just the fact that I got the complete stereo and it works fine lol just need speakers for it any suggestions for a set of good speakers.
 
What you have is a rack system. Your right, it's not the greatest, but it will certainly get you by for now. I sold those new and you need to abuse them pretty good to break them.

Any 6-8 ohm speakers will work fine. Some, but not all, can't handle 4 ohm or less speaker loads.
 
Yeah it's a whole rack system I got it from a drift store I was doing community service in. But yeah man I'm enjoying the stereo and yeah I ended up taking my home theater speakers and putting them on this stereo which soundsgreat
 
Very Cool!! I had a Soundesign all in one that looked similar, except it was all in one. Was fun for what it was for a broke college student. Enjoy ;)
 
I sold that model new. While the build quality isn't anything to write home about, they have proven to hold up well. The original speakers were the weak spot. The amplifier itself sounds surprisingly good. Enjoy your new stereo.
 
I've gotten some of that rack system gear in the piles I've picked up.

I always turned my nose up on that 80-90s rack stuff but now that I've had some the amps/receivers are not too bad. Internal build is decent. The flashy light show stuff on the front is cheesy.

As long as they work, party on!
