Sub and Marantz 2245

A friend of mind gave me a KEF PSW 2150 subwoofer that he was gonna toss so I bought it home and cleaned it up. It’s in ok shape aside from a few nicks. It didn’t have a power cord but I found a spare at home and it powers up. I would like to see if it works but can I hook it up to a Marantz 2245? I’ve never hooked a sub up to a vintage receiver before. If possible how do I connect it? I know it sounds like a dumb question! The 2245 is in my work area in the basement and is easily accessible with a set of speakers hooked up to A and B. The sub came with a RCA cable at the back plugged into “Line In left and right”.

Run a set of cables from the pre-out on the Marantz to the one-in on the sub, and another set from the line-out on the sub to the pre-in on the Marantz (after you remove the jumpers, of course).
This is based on the assumption that the two sets of RCA jacks on the sub are there as a pass-through.

Thanks. I thought the Pre had something to do with it.

Dearslayer found the instruction manual for the sub. On HiFiEngine.com. Just register and download for free. https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/kef/psw2150.shtml

Damn I'm not thinking straight today. Totally forgot about Hifiengine. Thanks. I'll check it out.

I'll try it tomorrow and check back. I was originally thinking that if it worked I might be able to add it as a second Sub in my HT system. Not sure how much it matters to have two different Subs in a HT set up though.

Had a few minutes after dinner tonight to hook up the sub. Lo and behold it works! Wow. I have a crappy pair of Toshiba CS -325 speakers in my work area oddly enough from the same friend I got the sub from. Paid $20.00 for them about 3 months ago simply because he wanted to get rid of them. Anyway they are nothing to write home about but ok to add to the three pairs I already have in my basement work area. The sub definitely adds another dimension to the sound even for a cheap pair of speakers. At least I know that it works. I may leave it for a while before trying it in the HT system upstairs.
