sub woofer c29 mc300 question

That's not me
I would like to add a powered subwoofer to my c29, mc300, bookshelf speaker system.

Newbee question: Do I connect them to one of the "outs" ie "line" out on the c29 or do I obtain a Y connector and split the signal as it exists the c29 and then feed monitors and subwoofer.

The output to the subwoofer has to be volume controlled so it tracks the main output.
 
Most powered sub woofers now have built into them a bandpass crossover. I have found that even some of the very expensive ones have such poor quality parts in their circuits they degrade the sound of the main electronics. Those then should not be inserted between the amp and pre.....they should be layered on to supplement the bass of the main speakers.

The C29 main outs are essentially a built in y cord....hook up a pair of patch cords from the 2nd main out to the LR input of the sub to "layer' it on to the main speakers.

Thanks for that info because I have switched from the way I had my subs hooked up to using the second main out and it works much better. You're never too old learn and the AK forums are a great place to learn. Thanks again.
