subwoofer : B&W ASW610 or SVS SB-1000 ?

Looking for recommendations on a subwoofer
I'm looking at the B&W ASW610 and SVS SB-1000.
These 2 are the right price and size for me. So around 500 - 700 USD and 13 inches / 33cm cubes
I've read very good things on the RSL speedwoofer 10S but they are not available here in Switzerland.

My system is (mainly...) Marantz PM8005 amp driving Monitor Audio Silver RX6 speakers. Main source is a Rega Apollo (original) CD player.
I'm looking for a more depth and punch in the low bass, mainly for music (all kinds)

My speaker placement is really nice for imaging and OK for bass at the listening position, but bass is a bit poor in the room in general.

Thank you !

I have an SVS SB2000 pro, and it is a superb sub. It's the bigger brother of the SB1000, and for its size produces a crazy amount of bass for a sealed box. It sounds great for music, even at low levels. I imagine the SVS would eat the B&W alive if you had to choose. Great warranty and service from SVS also helps.

Anybody with either of these two mentioned subs ? Are you happy with them?
Have not tried the B&W subs but I've had the SVS SB1000 for a couple of years now. My room is 10x14. I could not be happier. They probably don't exhibit earth shattering lows but they get deep enough. For movies when a rumble is put out it rumbles with no audible distortion.. Very pleasing. For music I am frequently thrilled with the deep clean resonance and seamless marriage between my front speakers and the sub. I'm always speaker looking but never once have I thought I need to get that sub replaced.

Sorry I’m late to the party, but I’d recommend SVS to anyone. I’ve had the SB-2000 for 2 years and it’s incredible. I have a small-ish room (13x15), but I measured over 80db still at 9hz when playing around with RoomEQ after I bought it.

If you’re budget is $700, you should be able to get the 2000 in black ash. Think that’s what I paid, but may be more by the time you get it to Switzerland. Even the 1000 would be a great unit, but might as well go 2000 if in your budget.

Hope this helps! :D

Thanks all, I now have the SVS SB-1000, it's nice, I'm starting to be happy with the settings, little by little.
I might have to play with placement some, but I'm quite limited...

Same sub set to crossover at 80Hz and the AV volume is -5. All I can say is the output is super clean.

Hi Bert. I am look into the exact 2 same subwoofers. Both are same price and both are in the size range of what would work in my room. My room is 20ft x 12ft. How have you gotten on with the SB1000s? I must admit they tempt me slightly more, as looking at the specs they can go down the little lower. I do listen to music but will be watching films mostly. I really wanted to go for a ported box (PB1000) as it can hit even lower but i think the size is just a bit big for me.

I will be interested in your feedback on the SB1000.

I’m sure you saw, but SVS had a smoking deal on the SB-2000 for Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Think it was $499? I paid $699 for mine a few years back...

Unfortunately i live in the UK where the prices seems to be fixed amongst all the dealers. The SB1000 is £519 and the SB2000 is around £649 and the SB2000 Pro @ £899. Unfortunately no black Friday deals on these in the UK.

Ah, gotcha. That blows. :(

I wonder if they do international shipping. I know RSL do normally but they suspended that due to the pandemic. Where did you see the $499 for the SB2000?

I saw it as part of an email, I’m still on their mailing list. So their site shows it, but shows they’re sold out. Says Amazon is offering the same deal, and I saw Crutchfield (where I bought mine from) also has it listed for the same.

Not sure if any of those ship to UK, but hopefully one does! :)
