switch *pop*

Guys, ive just finished building one of the S5 electronics stereo amp kits, little 8wper channel one, ive built a chassis for it and fitted an on/off switch to the front.
it didn't have a switch to start with, i just plugged it in to "turn it on", but i now get a pop from the speakers when i turn it off after a while of running, any ideas whats causing it or what can cause this to happen?

Thanks,
Darran.

So do you now have a power switch? Is there a schematic, I am curious to what the B+ is doing compared to the heaters (timing).

You can put a snubber cap across the switch (I'd use .01 - .05 uF, 600V, with a 100 Ohm resistor in series). Another approach is to put a 130V MOV across the transformer primary.

Thanks mate, but i'm dense when it comes to electronics!. . . do you mean i can solder it across the two wire contact stubbs on the back of the switch to "bridge them"?

Thanks again.

Where did you put the power switch in the circuit?
Are you breaking the AC, or the B+, or lifting the center tap of the transformer?
It will make a difference on the answers you get.

Take a couple pics of your amp so we can see the power switch and wiring, you will be surprised how much troubleshooting can be done with just pics.

I just want to give you fella's a big thanks, particularly vfr800fiman, it was the switch wires causing the pop, i moved it to the wire with the inline fuse and it sorted it. . . .

You guys are a great help for a beginner like me, cheers:thmbsp:
