Sx-950 as pre amp

i was starting to look around for a main amp and use my 950 as the pre. I am running a pair of ar 3a speakers which are 4 ohm and these speakers go low meaning down to 1 ohm. The 950 was completely redone and it does drive the ar 3a' s nice to a point then it just cuts out.i know this is a pioneer forum but any suggestions would be nice I was looking at a adcom Gfa 555 but not sure if it would work with the 950

The 950 as a pre will work for any amp.

I ran an Onkyo M-504 from mine via the pre outs to drive some TF-1000 speakers. They made my 950 get to hot for my comfort.

You have to be careful that the power amp has a turn on delay (protection ckt) since the pre-amp in the 950 does not isolate the pre-amp o/p sigs during power up/down, as a dedicated pre-amp would do.
Also do not power down the 950 with the power amp still driving the speakers.
