Can anyone help out with a circuit diagram (component values) of this deck. I have a cracked resistor (it's arching) and I can't read the value bands off it as it's slightly fried and discolored. Any other info would be welcome too. I don't know the year but I have the serial number: 314072. Can't wait to get this deck on it's feet! Many thanks - Ian.

PS What effect does the value of that resistor have on the motor? How critical is it that I get the right value? Is it just a phase invertor?

It depends if your systemdek has electronic speed control but if it doesn't, like mine, the resistor is 210 ohms 1/2 watt. Red Brown Brown.

I can't see how a resistor could be a phase invertor so I don't think it's use is for that. I was able to find a schematic at one time on the net but I didn't save it. ( I just checked) You should be able to find it with a google search.

PS Is there a way to fine tune the motor speed?

No, the speed is based on frequency. You may be able to make adjustments mechanically, ie; increasing or decreasing the size of the pulley.
 
No go. It did not work with a 220 ohm 1/4 (0.25)W. Since that was the closest they had at my local Radio Shack. Any suggestions are welcome. - Ian.
 
You'll have to use an electrical meter to trace the power from the Voltage in throught to the motor. You can start with the points where the motor terminates to the board. Make sure you read supply voltage accros thoes two wires. I'm guessing your in a 120V area?

If you have voltage there you may need to replace the motor. If not you'll have to follow the board traces back with the electrical meter to see where the power starts and repair the broken connection or component.

I think the only other component on that board is a capacitor....Can't remember....

Reviving this thread as I had to replace the resistor on mine as well. I went for a 220ohms 2watts and it works great. A 1/2 watt resistor is much smaller than the original one.

The resistor is only part of the "on light" I assume in the circuit? but the light completes the circuit?
