Technics SA-202 receiver tuner only works in mono. Silent in FM stereo mode...

Dear experts,
I just got a Technics SA-202 receiver recently and hoping to use in the office for fm radio mainly. However there is no sound or signal indicator lights when FM Stereo/FM muting mode is selected. There is only sound when I disable FM muting mode which also by default makes it mono. At mono I can then pick up the stations but same thing no signal indicator lights...

Need help in terms of where I should start....

Also, the sound seems flat and lifeless... My next question: is this receiver worth restoring? Any one with experience with this unit?

It could be something simple like the switch, but since you have no signal strength indication, I'd guess the multiplex IC is faulty.
You could buy a tuner off the bay and connect it to the aux in rather than dump the receiver.

Hi there, may I know what is the multiplex Ic? Costly to replace?
