Technics SL 1401 Broken Tonearm Rest... Are these interchangeable with other tables?

I recently acquired a nice Technics 1401, but the tonearm rest is broken. As I try to find a replacement, I am wondering if these are interchangeable with other Technics table. If you know, please reply.

There are the obvious models like the SL-1301 and 1401. You can add the non-MK2 versions of the SL -1300, 1400 and 1500. There are probably others.

The Technics SFPRT17201K is about the only one widely available new at a reasonable price. I've had various levels of success using it on various technics tables. I just installed one on my SL1500 which should be very similar to yours in dimensions, I had to bore out the hole a little bit, and it's a bit too low. It works as a rest, but locking the arm in place puts the stylus extremely close to the plinth.

The part number for the SL-1301, 1401 and presumably the 1501 (though I couldn't find that one) tonearm rest is SFPRT17001K. That's not the part number for the SL-1400 arm rest So my earlier post was incorrect. The basic casting for the plinth on the "MK1" versions of the SL-1300, 1400 and 1500 is the same basic casting used for the SL-1301, 1401 and 1501 but the arm and arm base for the two series are entirely different and that's where the arm rest is attached.

So, the only "drop-in" replacement will be the arm rest for the SL-1401 and its siblings. But as bigx5murph observed, other arm rests can be made to work, either by modifying the arm rest or the turntable.

Thanks for the info. I am trying a MCS 6603 arm rest that looks to be identical. We will see.

Well, the MCS 6603 did not work, but I did find a SL-23 rest worked perfectly. The only difference is the catch / lock for the arm and an unseen section is black versus 1401 is silver, but again this is not seen when mounted. Pictures will show the difference. The height of the rest aligns and the shaft portion aligns exactly.
