Technics SU-8600 vs SU-8080 difference in caps despite same wattage

I sold some hifi and usually i buy new hifi instead of using the money for food,cloth or something that won't last that long.

I found out that a Technics SU-8600 is a very good amp that sounds good to and since the SU-8080 i could find is atleast 50% more expensive then the SU-8600, i bought the SU-8600, waiting for it to arrive in a few days.

I didn't knew the SU-8080 is the top of the line amp, but it is, despite having the same power,watt the SU-8080 has four 80V / 10,000µF caps where the SU-8600 has only two 15,000µF caps.

Despite both having just above 2x70 watt in 8 ohm, the difference in caps are noticeable, 1/3 more in the SU-8080.

What difference does that do for the music when playing elektronic music (bass) or playing 50% or higher of the max power and whey this difference in µF ?

Can the SU-8080 handle more difficult speaker loads?

The additional power supply capacitance may provide a little more instantaneous peak power. All this means is that there may be a little less dc supply line voltage droop during loud transients. If the comparison had been between say 6800uF to 10,000uF with a 70watt/channel amp, I would say that there would be a noticeable difference. With an increase from 15,000 to 20,000 the difference would be far less noticeable as 15,000uF is already more than ample for a 70watt/channel amplifier.

It is very common to increase the power supply capacitance value from stock as many Japanese manufacturers are know what is considered to be the bare minimum to achieve decent sound quality - I have done this myself many times. It has to done with due regard to the capability of surrounding components such as switches, supply transformers and rectifiers.

The ability of an amplifier to handle difficult loads is dependant on a number of design facets (the PSU being one of them). The defining factor though is the design of the power amplifier itself.
 
I'm willing to bet that if you go over to hifiengine and look up the manuals for both, the weight of the 8080 is substantially greater than the 8600--it takes more iron to keep those bigger power supply caps charged under a heavy load, as well as a beefier rectifier. The old saying from back in the day--"you buy them by the pound" was in many cases quite true.
