It was popular in the PX BX. It was too expensive for street sales. It's not rare. I would say not so common.

That's a good deal. Buy it. You could make money on it or enjoy it. It has LOTS of power, and good build quality. It's the pinnacle of the good Technics Integrated amps. After this series it was downhill. Not fast, but still.

I would buy that in a heartbeat for $80. It looks great and built as a Technics high-end piece, it should be near bulletproof. That would likely go in my system and not come out.

seriously quit fartin around and go buy it.

It's pretty common knowledge that these are desirable and worth more than 80 dollars. You surely have competition you don't know about, unless it is a 1 on 1 deal from a friend or something. If it is advertised, it's gonna be gone soon.

That wouldn't last half an hour in DC on CL at that price.

I have one that is very similar that IS supposed to be somewhat rare. I picked up the SU V909 along with a car load of other stuff -- 2 sets of speakers, along with a Technics TT, Cassette Deck, FM Tuner, etc.... for $65 locally on Craig's list a year ago - funny thing is - I didn't know anything about - didn't have room for it - stumbled on a thread on the amp here on AK and gave it a listen - THEN moved some other stuff out and now it's my main setup in the cave ! By the way - mine is a dark grey almost black in absolutely mint condition !

I'd keep it !!!!

I believe the V909 adds what Technics calls "Computer Drive" technology and I think the V909 is also the export or European version.

Yep, you're correct - that's exactly what I found out when I researched it a while back - it's for sure a keeper !

Not quite true. I have a SU-V10X which came out 5 years later, which has at least equal, if not more, impressive specs in phono S/N ratio, THD, and total power draw capacity. Both are impressive integrated amps which can drive fairly big loads, fly a bit under the radar, and if OP can p/u for $80, even needing minor repair, it`s well worth it.

The expensive TOTL 1988/90 SU-V90D is also an excellent built, sounding amp, especially if a CD player is connected to the power amp direct analog input via high quality phono leads,i own a couple of them.

well i lost out, i went to look at it and he couldnt demo it cause of the foreign power plug, by the time he found it, he sold it. so i never even go to hear the amp. too bad i had gotten excited over it. i picked up a nice jvc ja-s44 that im not sure if i like yet.

Tried it this weekend with the biggest baddest set of speakers I own lol. Cerwin Vega PD18's. Loud is an understatement lol. The amp is certainly a keeper. I am going to have it serviced and cleaned for sure. Most under rated 120WPC I've ever heard, easily compares to some of the smaller pro amps I have.

Nice!

I've twice had Technics SU-V707. I got the second one for cheap because the original binding posts were mosting broken off. Easy fix after I bought a different Technics receiver from the same era with the same binding posts. A couple of hours taking things apart and replacing the binding posts and it was as good as new! Very capable amps that sounded quite good.
