Technics TT motors- which models exchange?

I know my SL-1300 is different than my SL-1700, but is my SL-1700 different, or the same motor as my SL-1100?

The SL-1100 has been compared to the SL-1200, and supposedly the SL-1200 uses the same motor as a SL1700, ect.

What am I getting at? Wondering if the SL-1700 and SL-1100 motors are the same/interchangeable.

That's all.

Cheers!

hhhmm.. well.. considering on the 1200, part of the motor is the platter, and that is compared to the 1100, then I would say platters have to be swapable too..

The platter on the 1100 dwarfs the 1200 (1100 sports a horizontal "lip"), but I'm wondering if the other half is the same...

If I understand him he is talking about the older 1200 and that motor and the 1100 should be or you would think that they are interchangable.

Did the original SL-1200 have the same platter as the SL-1100? I did not know that, if it's the case...

as i thought it was an oldie, its a pic of a 110 & drive cct the 1100 is the same

From what I've gathered, the SL110 is the SL-1100 without arm.

My SME armed table says SL-1100 on the back, but uses a different name on the plinth- I'm not at home, so can't give you an exact model.

But it's not marked an SL-110.

No the SL110 and the SL1100A had a totally different platter. There was a motor and arm from an SL1100A on ebay back in early July.

What other changes does the "A" config. have?

All I could locate on the SL-110 and SL-1100 were non "A" models, and this is what Vinyl Engine has to say about 'em...

Vinyl Engine says this about the SL-110-

"Technics SL-110- Direct Drive Turntable - also available as the SL-1100 with EPA-110 tonearm (1975-77)"

And this about the SL-1100-

"Technics SL-1100- Direct Drive Turntable fitted with EPA-110 tonearm - also available with no tonearm as the SL-110 (1975-77)"

No mention of the SME model I have, and no mention of the "A" designation.

Was it different other than the platter?

The A was for the latter model SL1100's because if I remember correctly there was a change made to the head shell as the first models the headshell was solid vs the 3 holes in the later models like mine and i think there were also some upgrades done to the motor and electronics. Other than that same arm ect.......... Yours I believe was always model SL110. I always wanted one like yours I've also seen them with Grace arms as well as with a Micro Seiki Ma505 arm and Infinity Black Widow. When i bought mine the Thorens 125 with an SME arm were very popular.
