telefunken console at tag sale Essex CT

I was at a tag sale on Dennison Rd, Essex CT this morning and looked at a long, low Telefunken console. I think it was 25 or 50 bucks. I can't find a place to put it, and while I suspect its tubed, and the tubes might be worth much more than the asking price to someone who wanted to sell them individually, that person is not me.

Been there done that, Twice. until I priced telefunken tubes and I've been kicking myself in the ass ever since:tears:

I assume that by highlighting the might and your comments you mean to say that it certainly would be worth it. I had meant that it might be tubes -- I'm pretty certain but hadn't checked for certain -- and the tubes might be good. And you might be able to sell them for a good profit. None of that is certain, whereas the awkwardness of trying to find a place to put a console etc., is certain.
I might go back at the end and help them clear the place out...
 
It is a stereo unit, and it is tubes. I went back at the end of the sale, but couldn't see anyway to move it easily, and I'm really too busy with other stuff, so I talked to the descendents and told them that it might make sense to Craigslist it, identifying it as a Telefunken. And if that didn't work, the tubes were potentially valuable. The son said that he had a couple of boxes of new tubes that he had taken home to sell seperately -- he said they were big and some were Western Electrics, so I let him know that they might be quite valuable. Those he will sell on Ebay -- his sister runs an ebay site and he may end up selling the tubes and speakers from the console there also. As well as four boxes of used tubes.
So while it didn't do me any good, it keeps some tubes etc out of the dump, and doing good for someone.
 
I have a telefunken princess II sitting in a garage at a friends house. I got it free and I am wondering what to do with it. Any suggestions? Sorry about the possible hijack thread.
 
If I had an actual idea of what to do with consoles, I wouldn't have left it behind. But if you have room, you could do a lot worse than using it -- assuming it works, of course. Often these consoles are nice to listen to -- its a different listening experience than with modern components etc, but perhaps because they don't allow for much if any changing things around, all you can do is listen, not fuss and tweak.
