ok... people can like or not like little chip amps but I am happy for them (and for my relatively cool running haswell computer and high efficiency seasonic X-series power supply. But with Summer coming and it being disgustingly hot here, I imagine my little t-amp will be seeing a lot of use this spring/summer.

I want to add as little heat to the situation here as possible .. my weather station thing outside says 102F right now and hit 111F earlier.

In my previous testing my little t-amp (which never really gets all that warm.. even the powersupply brick.. ) draws about 4watts of power.

I have the ac in the house set at 81F and even in my small~ish bedroom office with my dual monitors and my pc and t-amp going (SMSL SA-S3 + Minimus 77s) rise over rest of the house is 2~F.

not sure what is up with this heatwave here but it is just unpleasant right now..i have been honestly just trying to avoid going outside till later when it starts cooling off. ..bleh.

Another point in their favor. Yeah, when I'm listening to speakers and using my Headroom Micro Amp (solid state headphone amplifier) as a preamp, it still gets hotter than my Topping TP21 :)

I changed my PC from 4 GPUs to 2 GPUs because of the heat :(

My 4 amps do put out a lot of heat. I usually just use headphones if things get really hot. Either that or just crank the AC :thmbsp:

I avoided using tubes last summer for that reason.
It's winter here now. I'm getting an APPJ/Minitwatt N3 for my office setup soon :D

It is hot and humid here in the summer. The tube amps do not add a significant amount of heat to the room, but with double pane windows, we are able to keep the house at 78F

Yeah, it sucks right now. I had my fan pointed on my amp yesterday evening about a foot away so I could listen to music, it was 100 degrees in my apartment... No AC

I've done that when its really hot. It makes me look forward to fall though. The tube amps kick out some heat, but they sound better. This summer I may just rock the Bogen though. It has less tubes and less heat output than the Sherwood does. The Bogen plus the PAS2 come out to 13 tubes, the Sherwood is 22 I think.

oh man.. no ac tough.. on the upside I think (hope) it is suppose to cool down some over the weekend.

not personally a fan of the weather getting much past mid 80s at the most personally this 100+ weather in may is not cool (get it... punny???)

T-amps ? I'm in Thailand and its ridiculously hot and humid, but as long as I have the overhead fan (and turn on the aircon when things get really nasty), my PM6005 barely gets warm to the touch. Granted, its not a Class A design or heavily biased into Class A, but even the Oppo next to it gets warmer in operation. Its probably helped by the fact that I dont play anything at 'eviction notice' levels :D

Even here in N. Jersey it is getting warm enough to go Sans Adorn...The ST-70 is a Room Heater...So, it's time now for the Sure TK2050...

ugh ... getting tempted to take the weather station thing down... starting to bum me out.

it is reading 108F outside right now.. however looking up the weather on the web is claiming it is only 92F here now..

so yeah little t-amp is going today while I "work" (in theory I'm working) on the computer again today.

supposedly the temp is supposed to drop down starting tomorrow.. forecast calls for it to be low 80s then low / mid 70's ..I will believe it when i see it at this point..

I have taken in recent years to having two variants of my "main" system, one tube for the three cooler seasons and the other SS for the hot, humid summers here. My SS system has gained a full-time gig in the living room so I found myself back looking for a SS amp. I have a Mac MC-250 coming that I hope can fill in for the CJ MV-45 successfully. The PV-12 tube pre only runs two tubes and is cooler than many SS units so that isn't a problem. I also have another SS tuner coming so the Scott 333b tuner can rest all of those tubes for a bit. We will see how it all plays together. Haven't felt the need to go as far as a T-amp, though.

This Thread got me thinking, so I went to the 'bay to see what is out there now...And, sure enough I Had to Buy Something. It wasn't until after I had spent all of $21.50 with free shipping from China that I saw that the TK2050 Board was an Arjen Helder, from the same Guy that made my TK2020 Amp...This Guy made Great Sounding Amps, and I would hope that this one will be the Same... Plus, it would seem that I got the Last One...Lucky Timing...

It is ice cold at work thank God... I'd come in and work today for free just for the AC (Not going to tell them that)

The Arjen Helder Amp sounds Real Nice...Better than the Sure Board that has been my Summer Sound...But, with the Heat I Think...The Sure Board has a Fan, the Helder has a HeatSink...How Hot can the HeatSink on a TK2050 get? I'm thinking of Stacking Sinks now...

Global Warming...Birth of T-Amps...coincidence? I don't think so. :D

Years ago I used T-amps in the summer months. My main systems use tube amps and some class A ss so I had a heat issue although ac and a large ceiling fan go a long way toward a fix.

The thing is...I really like the sound of the T's and was happy with them but come Fall when I'd put the tubes back in, I always got an Ahhhhhh, that's why I do this.

Anyone sell a 2.1 T amp that's already built up? Preferably one that can actually provide 15W/channel to satellites. Thanks for any help.
