The best possible party speaker

So... "back in the day" party speakers were never.. )) loud enough ((, particularly if they didn't disturb your neighbors? Of course, the more dynamic models weren't tote-able either

But recently I have seen a BlueTooth industrial-grade speaker, I believe at Lowes. And it carried quite the punch along with sound quality. Designed to be durable, because you might just drop a 2x4 on it at an active construction site, I suppose. And undoubtedly waterproof

Might it be possible to just purchase .. say 4 of these, use your "engineering" to multi connect the units via a central streaming device, and have great music just about anywhere, be it home, rooms or other

Just "old school" brainstorming here.. ;)

I'm not a Bose fan but the 901s are ' something else '. Block party action.

This. There’s a local street mariachi band that no joke uses two 901s. At the volume these dudes play, they’ll cause permanent hearing loss if you stand at the right angle in front of em.

I give up, this guy wins...
I dunno -- Dick Burwen's setup in Massachusetts would give 'em a run for their money, methinks.

No mention of:

budget?
environment wherein played?
strictly for party use?
portability?
sound source?
degree of ruggedness/water proof?

If you want the easy way out, just pick up a JBL "Extreme" or two for stereo effect.

With your age group, many are not too critical of end results. The gathering is of more import.

FWIW

My neighbor had two 901s. We did use them for a street/block party once.

LOUD!

I was providing the sound at my wedding reception back in 84. We couldn't afford to rent one. This was with a Marantz 1530 and Legacy 100 speakers. And we asked my best man to put together a few tapes for the reception party. Once he heard my system in the venue, he went home, packed up his Kef 104/2s and he thinks his Parasound, and people loved the sound that night. I wouldn't hesitate using my Kef 105s or Cornwalls at a party. Except I would be guarding the amp to ensure nobody but I was changing anything.

Except, I never get invited to 'those' type of parties. 'Eyes Wide Shut' kind of budget and vibe going on there.

Cervin Vega, Mach Ones or PA speakers kind of parties were popular when I was 'in school'

The party speakers I remember had no attention to sound stage or image. Just full spectrum dynamics that emphasized bass drum, lead guitar and screeching vocals. Typically something with horns and big woofers driven by an amp probably more powerful than it needed to be. The life of the party and the life of the speakers usually ended about the same time...

^^ if you can't play it good, play it loud?

agree that something you can afford to lose and that is robust enough to suffer abuses of loud volumes, drinks being spilled on it, and possibly being knocked over without harm would be more important than what it looks or really sounds like. Get more than 3 people in a room and they're more likely to be talking than listening to music anyway.

I think the B&Os will be quite popular. Great for setting down your drink or food. Maybe utilized as a form of Beer Pong seeing how many balls you can land on the rings. Wouldn't it be easier to purchase a BT interface for your audio system?

And they take party abuse in stride, and idiot operators really well. They work great for this, just feed them 200 watts/channel-1KW/channel of amplifier power. The price paid is that they're inefficient.

When it comes to party speakers, you want a powerful and high-quality speaker that can fill a room with sound and get people dancing. Here are some recommended party speakers:
JBL PartyBox 310: This is a high-powered Bluetooth speaker with 240 watts of sound, a built-in light show, and a built-in DJ pad for mixing music. It has a long battery life of up to 18 hours and can connect to other speakers for even more sound.
Sony GTKXB90: This is a powerful and high-quality speaker that delivers booming bass and clear sound. It has a built-in light show, Bluetooth connectivity, and can connect to other speakers for an even bigger sound.
Bose S1 Pro: This is a versatile and portable party speaker that can be used for parties, outdoor events, and more. It delivers excellent sound quality, has a long battery life, and comes with a convenient carrying handle.
UE Hyperboom: This is a large and powerful speaker that can fill a room with sound and get people dancing. It has a long battery life, Bluetooth connectivity, and can connect to other speakers for even more sound.
Sonos Move: This is a versatile and high-quality Bluetooth speaker that delivers excellent sound quality and supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. It has a long battery life, is weather-resistant, and comes with a convenient charging base.
Ultimately, the best party speaker for you will depend on your needs and preferences. Consider factors like size, power, sound quality, and connectivity when making your decision.

You can build or just buy.

I have the Soundcore by Anker Rave Neo. The baby. Highly rated at an (un)popular consumer magazine. Only 50W & 98dB. USB charging with aux or Bluetooth input. Beat-driven light show options can be turned off. 18 hours playtime. IPX7 waterproof. It’s hefty yet it plays strong and good. Very reasonably priced at Walmart. I can wireless-link 100 of them.

The big Rave+ is 160W & 107dB. IPX4. 24 hours playtime. I imagine that linking 100 of them would give you a blast – one large tree-swallowing sinkhole.

Rave+ is an opportunity. The day after your college parties, start selling hearing aids.

One of my neighbors has the JBL Partybox 710. It is shockingly good for it’s intended job- not “Hi Fi”, but crisp sound with gobs of bass for group gatherings. Super portable and runs off batteries for hours. IMO it’s a game changer.
