The biggest breakthrough in the history of speaker development?

Zilch, RickB posted a link to another speaker, a Digital Phase, for which I quoted a spec, only as an example of a spec with a degree of precision, nothing more. That speaker claimed 87dB etc.

Sorry for the confusion.

It's just low, irrespective of size/extension.
The loudspeaker obeys Hoffman's Iron Law, as it should.

Not too familiar with the exact measures for defining "low".

The question still remains though. Where are these speakers which achieve same level of performance considering their size (yes size has everything to do with it)? Ie; Whats the point of designing a speaker to achieve same level of low frequency response with three or more drivers but only to be positioned 3 to 5 feet from the rear wall? Whats the gain?

These guys do it all the time, and have been doing it for way over a decade...pretty impressive to hear such bass from such a small driver...just wish that the top end was as good as the bottom...but the guys who build these are total enthusiasts:

http://digitalp.com/ap7.htm

Of course, their efficiency is more in line with what to expect from small drivers...but, having heard them I do know that low bass is achievable in small packages...but....there's always a but, right?....there are always trade-offs, too...like tweeter technology has come a long way since they first started making these things...wish they'd follow along....

Yes that tweeter... Could it be that the tweeter has some favorable qualities regarding the overall sound and its balance?

The website lists rachelle@sjofnhifi.com as the Montreal contact to arrange for a demo. "You may audition any of our products by contacting for an appointment the operator of the Sjöfn HiFi showroom nearest you."

Thanks for this. Going to contact this Rachel gal and audition these to get it off from my schedule. Hope they are as "moving" as claimed. Interesting speaker this Digital Phase AP.7 as well.

Bass is bass, what about the other frequencies where most of the music is.
I have not heard this speaker so I cant make a judgment, but you cant
judge a speaker by it's bass performance only.......:scratch2:

Maybe it's just me, but I thought the OP was spam and now we're being trolled... could be wrong though, it's happened before. Back to my music...:music:

What I noticed is that the they are only rated for power above 300 hz... I do not know what the power handling at 30 hz is, but likely not much.

Sorry if I sound too upfront. Im not trying to accuse anyone. Ive just caught too much opposition (even Im not representing any particular party) instead of seeing serious minds interested which any "audiophile" (I never understood the meaning of that word) should when it comes to these monitors. They simply sound too good to be true.

So you've never heard them and never seen real specs, just the ad copy saying they go "low" and a mention of 30Hz. Why are you defending them so vehemently?

You can't break the laws of physics. You can work compromises around in different ways, but you can't overcome the underlying principles. If they claim to have done so, there's a catch. Count on it.
