The attached document describes in detail the steps I took to create the KLH-17 Plus, a high quality monitor loudspeaker comprised of an ultra-smooth Fountek ribbon tweeter, German designed HiVi kevlar impregnated paper cone bass-mid and custom fabricated baffle board.

If the photo below of the pair looks interesting, download the document and learn more.

I'm sure they are nice speakers but they are hardly KLH 17s any more -- they are new speakers in an existing box. 17s are common enough that I think using their cabinets is a reasonable cost effective choice, and I assume that the drivers might help out 17 owners with blown drivers.

The document attachment includes my subjective listening comments.

I'm both an objectivist (measurer) and a subjectivist.

I hope you're not a Randian objectivist! :)

Beautiful speakers! Sometimes sacrilege is a good thing. ;)

Nice, but instead of "KLH 17 Plus", shouldn't these be called "Some speakers that are shaped like KLH 17's"?....:scratch2:

No different than what some folks like to do to Heritage Klipsch speakers (e.g. the Cornwalls) - new drivers, new XOs, new stuffing, maybe some bracing too - only the Box is still a Cornwall.

As was said before, it's hard to beat a cheap 'n' cheerful source of a loudspeaker enclosure!
