I hope you'll be putting the one on your modded KT-7500. I've got that model & so far have not progressed past the power supply mod but that made a big improvement.

What is the rumor going around about a newly developed replacement for the Filters on the previous unreplaceable units on the Sansui Tu-9900?

While I got your attention, why no ranking for theTu-9900? Nor the highly regarded Kenwood 600T, but one for the lesser KT-917 which was bested by the 600T in the shootout you still have posted?

I'm holding my breath for your answer! Do I look blue already?

I sold my Kenwood 650T- (A bronze 600T) before I started doing the Shootouts. Just a need for money, sad to say. So, I haven't had one here for testing. I owned and loved it for many years. My friend who loans me these tuners to do the Shootouts on has about 110 tuners in his collection. At this point, he has neither a Kenwood 600T or Sansui TU-9900. Why do you say the 917 is a lesser tuner? By the way, with a 110 tuners in the "warehouse" there is no reason for me to even own a tuner. I can have and keep anything from a Marantz 10B to a Dyna FM-3. From a Kenwood L-02T to a .......... Magnum Dyanlab and anything in between.

The quotes from both writers comments can be construed(by this reader at least) to infer that the Kt-917, while a later model was not a significant departure from the earlier 600T.

600T vs 917
“Both tuners were outperformed by a Sansui TU-X1 that was hooked up to the same antenna. The TU-X1 sounded cleaner, with more powerful bass, and was much more selective. However, our 600T that is modified with narrow filters blows away the stock TU-X1 for selectivity.”

……..“I would say the 600T's "normal" circuit is just about perfect for all-around use, and modified narrow is used for getting ultra-weak stations with ultimate selectivity. A 600T with modified narrow filters in top alignment is an incredible tuning machine.”

These comments were directed at the 600T, None were directed at the 917. Ergo> the 917 is the lessor tuner.

Being a pragmatic sort, I could live with either... or my Tu-919 (SSmod) Which of late appears to be the "cause Celeb" on EBay along with its breathren 9900.
