The Official *Technics SL-1200* Owners Club

So are decks without the -A the more rare decks?
The decks before the change aka early models are naturally more rare. Not sure if they dropped the A at some point later so there could be newer post change decks that don't have the A but are same with those marked A. Anyway, there are other clearly visible indicators about the change, main one being big (old) vs small (new) rca cables hole.

Mine was bought in late 2009. I had ordered it from Musicians Friend nearly a year earlier and it was on back order. The one day out of the blue I got an email saying they had stock and to confirm my order. So it was at the tail end of production. When it arrived the box was trashed and it had a hole in it and I could see the deck through the hole. Unpacking I could see no damage to the deck so I kept it knowing how hard they where to get.

Anyone running a 1200m7 as a regular turntable. Just wondering if it has good sound quality. I have a MK5 and a M3D I run. They have a special edition I would like to get or should I just get the 1200gr. Thanks. Here’s a few pics of the special edition colors 9FD2F90D-B5AB-44F7-816A-AF7D7A60AC6E.pngA6C47FAD-12AD-4CD0-9C90-C8D012E8C641.png

KAB got back to my over the weekend and i was able to get it all up and going. Thanks KAB for the great service! FYI the info i got for posterities sake is that for the MK2 it is 3M X16mm . For the M3d,MK5 and M5G it is a phillips head drilling screws for metal, Zinc Plated steel, number 6 1/2 inch long. Fit perfectly!

Replying to an old post, but I would like to thank you jhoofard for saving the day! I purchased a new cover for my SL1200 MK2, the hinges came with the cover, and I had the plastic mounts for the chassis, but no screws to mount them. After googling I found the part number "XSN314BVS" however I could only find tem on eBay at huge postage to my country (like $8.20 + $24.59 pp).
I finally found this post #3354. Went and purchased some m3x16 machine screws for $1.75 for 12 (with nuts too). And these are the identical match. Hooray!

I'd like to join the club. I have a 1210mk2 with upgraded KAB interconnects. As the photo shows I also have a new KAB Technics tonearm with cardas wires waiting for when the original tonearm needs replacing. Currently running a Ortofon 2M Blue and when I want to change to something with a different sound I have a Denon DL-103. Hopefully my table will last forever!

Dony good chance your SL-1200Mk2 will outlast you. As per the owners manual the only routine maintenance required is a couple drops of oil ( Technics or sewing machine) at every 2,000 hour intervals and keep the table clean.

No need to say anymore, Kevin/KAB is the go to guy for just about anything Technics.

+1 for same comments.

for all the 1200 owners as well as other TTs with a cast aluminum platter, adding the doukmall brass mat to the platter then adding the rubber mat on top makes a huge improvement in clarity.

Would you happen to have a link for that doukmall brass mat? Thanks.
