bahahaha

never has a single news story managed to capture what the idiots in this place that I am currently stuck in are like.

basically blah blah blah

stupid people ignore dangerous cliff signs ...lady falls get hurt

guy comes up to police during rescue say he is her friend??? she has a restraining order against (so the police arrest him)

anyways the Police bring in helicopters trying to rescue this stupid b*tch that fell... some other stupid bi*ch decides the helicopters are making too much noise and starts shinning a flashlight into the cockpit of the POLICE HELICOPTER??? WTF...are you kidding me??? but wait it get's better... The police helicopter comes on it's PA....SAYING (basically) "stupid bi^ch turn your light off we are the f**king police helicopter!"

and SHE won't stop shinning her flash light at them... so the police go cite her ..(personally I wish the police helo had a minigun mounted on it and they would have shot her and her house to f&cking pieces...or alternately the officers that went to her house would have tazed the hell out of her..but I guess they just cited her.

but yup.... basically as stupid and unreasonable everyone in the story sounds..WELCOME TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

God I can't wait to get out of here.

EDIT... first sorry bout relatively high levels of expletives in this posting originally.... and in retrospect while I am eager to return home from this place I am still sorry for sandbagging the entirety of this place.

I lived there (Hollywood) for three years in the late 80's, grabbing for the brass ring in the music business, like many did at the time, just as pay-to-play became the norm. Three years is the average for anyone in the entertainment business to finally get sick of every bit of the downside, and that was just about how it worked for me as well. I tried to make the most of it, and actually played 70 shows in and around the Sunset Strip at the time. All the iconic joints hosted my bands, and I have TONS of stories to tell my future grandkids, and for my blog (http://mindseyemusic.blogspot.com). Bumper stickers at the time? "Welcome To California" - NOW GO HOME.

"Californee-The land of Fruitz 'n' Nutz..." And WE here in Tennessee get gigged all the time as being Backwards, Inbred Hillbillies...H3ll's bells, we're mere PIKERS compared to the pros out in the Gold-Plated state...

I was born and raised here in SoCal and while I'm not all that fond of this place anymore, to me it's the OP who sounds like the moron. I have no idea what you're talking about dude. :dunno:

All that **** is kind of what I miss about living in Southern California. I'd go back in a heartbeat, the Mid-West is the most boring, intolerant, racist place I've ever been to on this planet. Its more intolerant than South Africa.

That's exactly why I moved from the midwest to Los Angeles. Well, that and the weather. :D

California is an incredibly beautiful state. Crazy people can be found anywhere, if you really look.

Before people make generalizations about California, it's important to remember that this is a very large state.

Driving from San Francisco, CA to Los Angeles, CA is about the same as driving from New York, NY to Norfolk, VA, or from Indianapolis, IN to Huntsville, AL.

I'm in Northern California and I don't particularly care for Southern California either, though San Diego isn't too bad.

The behavior described in the OP has nothing to do with California, IMHO. There are knuckleheads everywhere. Being a big and populous state, California has all the extremes. Highest point in US, lowest point in US. Some of the pretty scenery in the US, some of the ugliest. Some of the smartest people, some of the dumbest. And so it goes.

Well at least they are thriving financially. Seriously though, I had a good friend from Nebraska that had to move to the Bay area a couple years back. His first email to me went something like; Hey Man, you wouldn't believe this place, they have fellas walking around holding hands with other fellas, right out in the daytime. I can't really comment as I have only been to San Diego one time to visit a rich friend. He was calling some girls to go on a cruise with us in his Tollycraft Yacht, and put his hand over the phone and asked me if I minded braces? I was confused and thought of some gal with a knee brace, but after the call he explained he meant braces on her teeth.:yikes: The boat ride was cool, as we got to see some aircraft carriers. You just can't picture how big they are until you look straight up at one. I was nice to the girl, but kept my hands to myself. Even back then I could have been her Dad, yuck.

"Dreams of Californication..." Part of it, I think, is quite honestly, JEALOUSY on the part of yokels from other parts of the country...We don't have the weather, the moolah, the overabundance of everything, but we DO have plenty of bluenose buttinskys telling us that to enjoy what we DO have is a Sin...

i may have been too tried and grumpy to probably have tried posting that last night.

anyways, I wasn't sure I wanted to come here in the first place but my wife kinda pushed for the idea. I have to go to Los Angles and OC frequently for work, I realize there are rude jerks anywhere but it has been my experience SoCal seems to have more than it's fair share.

I've frequently been inconvenienced by entitled feeling people who think the rules don't apply to them... hence my feeling that the story with multiple people who clearly think they can do whatever they want sort of sums up this place in my view.

blah blah blah.... some people probably love this place..good on them, I for my part have found the cultural adjustment most difficult and would greatly prefer to return to my home in the PNW.

Small world, my friend was drug there by his wife.

California, one of the states you can get a taste of every flavor and southern Cal has its own for sure. I mean that in a good way!

I always figured that the east coast was a little higer then the west coast.
Any time there's a shake-up all the loose marbles roll west.

Kinda funny how all of the hotties move west to be California girls and leave the rest of you all with the potato maidens.:scratch2: Just being regional not too, too sexist. Yeah I'll bet even the wack job with the flashlight is an immigrant from some strange burg east of here. Take a look at a map and imagine the length and breadth of the state where I was born. Mount Shasta to Baja California / Monterey to Lake Tahoe. Sheesh we even have some tourist attractions like Yosemite and Kings Canyon not to mention some jumbo sized Christmas trees that they carve a tunnel you can drive your car thru. That's a whole lot more fun than some gawdawful metal archway in St. Louis.:smoke:
If you like fireworks, you can usually set your clocks to Disneylands Fourth of July extravaganza that happens every night round my neck of the palm groves..
The reason we don't get too bent outta shape at the granola jokes or the gay bashing is simply maybe the bad press'll keep some of the sour pusses away.
I hear Florida's a fine place to immigrate to.:D
So, in the fine old tradition of warm hospitality us Los Angelenos have - Welcome to California, now GO THE FRACK HOME. Heheheheheeee
To be fair we do have some pretty crappy places like Cucamonga, Watts(where I was born)Most of the central valley-Lodi, Tehachapi. Newport Beeyotch (one town over). You get the picture. We liiike the touristas money, mi compadre but I'm all for setting up a visa system so once you're done with us you have to leave.:smoke: Adios mijo..
