The Power Metal Thread

What is "Power Metal"? Well, it's not pop/glam/hair metal, it's not doom and it's not thrash, death, grindcore, etc. It's heavy, non-commercial, medium tempo metal. Probably the 2 best known power metal bands are Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. I'm not a huge JP fan and never cared for maiden, I do appreciate them starting this particular sub-genre of metal. Some of my favorite power metal albums include:

I always considered Loudness to be pop/hair metal. I guess they're kind of on the border.

Animals as Leaders is the debut studio album by American instrumental progressive metal band Animals as Leaders. It was released on April 28, 2009 by Prosthetic Records. In 2015, a reissue titled Animals as Leaders – Encore Edition was released with bonus tracks.
