Nope no grills...strange that the prototypes had them...Ain’t they cute. Do they come with grilles of any sort?
Definitely stands but i have to find a 10 inch top plate so the back footer can sit on it..Gonna put em on stands or mount em on a wall?
I haven't heard a pair yet.
I got ya....imma post it up tomorrow....C’mon T, what’s happening with them Kytes?
I’d like to read your thoughts about the KYTES when your inclination is so…I have a REGA IOamp with ELAC DEBUT B6 speakers & too bass heavy for my preferenceSorry guys its coming today or tomorrow hurt my back with this Siotica nerve it aint no joke..but im back...
The Kytes are pretty much the opposite of what the B6 is as far as character, and they dont have nearly the bass weight or extension as the B6. The Kytes are far more transparent and energetic sounding, i actually think the Kytes sound more similar to the B6.2 but it still times better...its not much except for maybe a singledriver speaker or Maggie LRS that can come close to the Kytes when it comes to PRAT. On a winning note for the B6 i think they image and soundstage better than the Kytes....its gonna come down to what sound like better yet love....me personally i preferred the B5 over the B6 but both were amazing at those prices with world class soundstaging and imaging....I’d like to read your thoughts about the KYTES when your inclination is so…I have a REGA IOamp with ELAC DEBUT B6 speakers & too bass heavy for my preference
That makes a boatload of sense, Tawaun. Exactly the conclusion I would expect from someone with your experience and expertise. Thank you. These would definitely not be on any short list for me. The latest Wharfedale Diamonds, PSB Alpha’s or the Paradigm Atom Monitor would interest me for a budget system…they all have some refinement and weight to their sound…and for chump change. Time for one of my most beloved brands to duck out of the speaker biz and focus on the things they do best......ok Art and guys sorry this took so long....as of right now both speskers have A vibration from the tweeter guide...a great thing it has a lifetime warranty. On a more important broad note...these Kytes are built by hand in England it just goes to show it doesn't matter where something is built its not exempt from having quality control problems. I dont feel fair giving them a full review but i will say a few things so i guess a review.
This speaker majors on PRAT above all else it doesent have the BBC dip so that enhances its speed...but it isnt a lean sound sound in the bass, but its right on the edge from the lower midrange on up. The Bass have very good definition and nuance with lots of texture a hallmark of a paper driver.the Tweeter is a sweetheart with good texture and dynamics, some companies could stand Rega building tweeters for them.
I want you guys to know this about this speaker, this is not a standmount that tries to play big, although the soundstage has great height to when the recording requires it to. The imaging is good i wouldn't say great it doesent have that crazy phantom center fill of a coaxial or a JBL waveguide but its good and believable. The tone very good for a speaker thats balanced this way vocals do sound really immediate and big, but the soundstage doesent have much depth to it.
This is a very good speaker but $800 a pair its touch to say they beat up on the $500 and under crowd. And then there is the elephant in the room is the cabinet material the cause of the rattle i have? Do you think a small standmount speaker with a plastic cabinet should cost $800 a pair, do you like the way they look...it also sucks that you have to pay a extra $80 bucks for a adaptor so you cant fit it on stands.
In the end i like this speaker...but i dont love it even tho its winning praise all over...and i can see why they are giving the praise, but for me i need more or maybe this just isnt the sound thats getting on with me, but they are most certainly worth a look..if thier strengths are tops on your check list you will love them...get em in give them a listen i believe World Wide Stereo has them and they have a 60 day return policy...
Nope they dont have what you like atleast as a complete package, me personally once i get the vibrations sorted with the warranty im gonna move them along for certain, I must say their PRAT is extraordinary tho it is truly next level in that aspect, our ole pal Edster from Ecoustics would love the Kytes but even the Diamond warmth ended up swaying him in the end. Im fairly certain even though i havent heard the Diamond 12.1 knowing Karl Hinze Fink as a designer with my lengthy experience with the Qs and Alan Corteau you and I would definitely prefer the 12.1 for half the price. I had the Alphas to....they sounded small like the Kytes and less energetic but warmer in the lower midrange and midbass..i prefer the Kytes to the Alphas although the. Alphas are $300 cheaper i liked how you could listen into the Alphas without fatigue for the long haul. I Havent heard the new Atoms tho i wouldnt mind hearing them....i'll tell you a speaker that you need to check out, the JBL Stage a130 on sale for $179 bucks yep back to the old STO sales prices....lolThat makes a boatload of sense, Tawaun. Yes I agree when I heard the original B5s at the NY HI FI show a few years ago I wished I’d bought the B5s… but the B6s are good but bass is too much for my neighbors…thanks for the review of the KYTESThe Kytes are pretty much the opposite of what the B6 is as far as character, and they dont have nearly the bass weight or extension as the B6.
