The Thread about Lists

Some of those Vinyl Me Please lists have been showing up on Facebook. I looked at a few of them.

They seem more like a method to promote and sell records from their website than an unbiased music fans list.

Yep. One always has to consider the source. Still an interesting list, it seems to me, although I don't agree with every choice nor with the idea that it has to be on LP.

Lotta good ones listed and of course there are several I've never heard @ vinyl nor digital, but among those I have heard and know very well @ vinyl and digitial, I'm not that certain the vinyl is the clear "winner" regarding overall sound quality. And past that, the "list" it does bear resemblance to a sales pitch; not a "hard" pitch, but a pitch nonetheless.

Picking Think Tank as the Blur album to own based on the Banksy cover art made me ditch reading the rest of the list.

I missed that. That would sour me on the thing as well, though the actual musical quality might have merit. Banksy schmanksy "art" cover. Pffft.

Ha ha. I really like about 80 percent of that list. I never pictured myself as a discerning hipster, though. Discerning, perhaps, but not a hipster.

Don't feel bad - I love Fleet Foxes and Death Cab. I draw the line at Decemberists though!

We have to like what we like, whether it's hipster-ish or not. Life is to short to do otherwise, even for hipsters. ;)

Anyway, I wonder if there are any other lists out there worth sharing?

Sorry... I don't wish to see my thread devolve into a hate thread. I don't want to focus on categories like "hipster" (e.g., the Decemberists) or "dad rock" (e.g., Genesis and Rush). I don't care if anyone here is a hipster, a dad rocker, a hip hopper, or whatever. I'm just interested in sharing interesting lists. Thanks.
